Writing
Write a lot. Write even when you don't 'feel' like it, because more often than not, your writing will be technically better.
Create a writing schedule and stick to it. Writing is love, writing is passion, but writing is also work.
- Forrest Schreefel, 2009.
I started writing when I was in elementary school. It began as a poetry assignment in sixth grade, but I wanted to do more than poetry. I asked my teacher if I could try a short story, and she agreed. I don't even remember what the story was about, but I was hooked. After that I took every opportunity to write. My parents bought me a package of different sized notebooks, some zippered, some not, that I filled with thoughts and story snippets. I distinctly remember sitting next to the Christmas tree and writing by the light of the Christmas lights. Later my parents bought me an electric typewriter, my grandmother bought me a desk and my brother bought me a table for the typewriter. I still have binders of writing sitting on the shelves at home and continue to work on stories I started many years ago.
My biggest project is called Ni'Ght War, a fantasy story that I started in junior high school. But I soon realized that the story I started was not the beginning of the tale and ended up backing up several times in order to start the story at the beginning. It's been a labor of love and I continue to work on it to this day.
I wish I had more time to write and follow my own advice of writing on a schedule. Life sometimes has other ideas, but collected here are some stories for your review. I hope you enjoy! (And maybe someday they will be in print somewhere!)
